Description[ | ]
In lore, the Janissary Classes were primarily used for Frontier Patrol and Border Protection as well as colonize new worlds or subjugate already owned ones. When engaged, these ships would use it's large accompaniment of Soldiers to board and take over crippled enemy ships.
In game, this is well represented with it's abilities. Colonization (or subjugation as the Cardassian's call it) and the ability to use barding parties on cruisers and smaller. It is also excellent as an early game fleet support cruiser as it's other abilities allow it to immobilize enemy ships with a tractor beam or disrupt their tracking.
Performance[ | ]
The Janissary class can be used to great effect as a fleet support cruiser when in combat. Boarding Parties, Tractor Beams, and Tracking Disruption (Spatial Mirage Field in game if I remember correctly). These abilities make up for the Janissary's poor armor and armament as your frigates will now be able to take out the enemy with ease since they will be disabled. The Janissary can make taking out Kessok cruisers in particular a breeze as without it's healing ability it has basically no defence.

Each ship has a attack type and an armor type (some have 2 attack types) which determine what ships it deals a lot of damage against and which ships it takes a lot of damage from.
