Description[ | ]
The Typhon-class was introduced shortly after the Dominion War as a carrier/ mobile outpost hybrid. A departure from the sleek and elegant design that is typical of many Starfleet vessels, the Typhon-class features a compact, box-like hull permutation with an emphasis on adaptability and defence, whilst employing numerous strike craft and shuttles to engage targets at long range. Jokingly referred to as the 'brick', the Typhon-class demonstrates a more practical view of starship design.
The first prototype to be commissioned for service was the USS Typhon in 2375. It was Commanded by Lt. Commander Worf during the events of the Kam' Jahtae invasion. Initially, the USS Typhon and Red Squad were tasked with investigating the disappearance of the USS Sentinel, a Sovereign-Class vessel that went missing in the Titan system. The Typhon would later play a pivotal role in repelling the Hurq when they emerged to threaten the alpha quadrant.
Capable of supporting 28 Valkyrie-class fighters from it's multiple hanger bays, the Typhon could be used a heavily armed transport vessel; be it as diplomatic envoy to friendly worlds or to supply critical aid to areas devastated during the Dominion War. When engaged in close range combat, the Typhon-class carrier boasts 8 type-X phasers that it can fire from the fore, starboard, portside and rear, which allows it's bulking frame to withstand flanking attacks, than more forward firing-centric ships. Complementing these weapon systems, are multiple mark-VI photon and quantum torpedo launchers for greater versatility against armoured targets. The Typhon's greatest weapon is arguably it's host of modified Valkyrie-class fighter craft, that it can launch from it's many hanger bays. When used against unsuspecting or unprepared targets, the Typhon can hold back in a defensive posture, whilst the Valkyrie-class fighters can harass and destroy desired targets, all while being safe from enemy fire.

Name | Description |
---|---|
Hangar Bay Extension | Extends the hangar bays abroad the vessel, allowing a greater number of fighters to be deployed. |
Emergency launch protocol | This emergency measure allows the vessel to deploy fighter craft at a significantly increased rate for a period. |
Fortress Mode | The ship activates the Fortress Mode, diverting power to weapons and shields. |
Point Defense System | The ship fires phasers at incoming projectie weapons, reducing the damage taken. |
Countering[ | ]
Each ship has a attack type and an armor type (some have 2 attack types) which determine what ships it deals a lot of damage against and which ships it takes a lot of damage from.
